Queer and being someone else
When people go through things, its hard to face the reality at times. Usually people tend to runaway from the issue before tackling it head on. Some people create different masks to protect themselves so that they won't seem to be going through any issues. Many people start to idolize certain humans and try to create themselves in their light. They try to become someone else. I know you are thinking, how do you become someone else? How can you be someone when you are already who you are? Well, its simple. Ego death. Many times when Humans are faced with issues there ego and pride are challenged by their new trial. The new trial may make someone feel like they are not worthy or ready to take on this issue. So, instead of being vulnerable and asking for guidance, they create their own guidance. As a queer community, I have seen where we tend to be a character or someone that seems false. These characters remind of the celebrities like Beyonce or Kim Kardashian who build this social Identity and forget that they themselves deserve to ne human. They deserve to be exactly who they are, themselves. The queer community deserves that space as well. The queer community has been through a lot and what bothers me is the impact of us Having to use code switching to be accepted by the people round us. Yes the times have changed, however there are still companies and people who have a problem with still accepting people for who they are. There are times when You may be at work and you don't feel spiritually comfortable with the people around you because they have a judgmental mentality. You start to reserve your true personality out of fear that you won't be accepted by your peers. This is all normal. Yes, your not suppose to share all of yourself with someone however you are still suppose to have your opinions and original feelings. You do not have to be a "yes" man to everything. That goes for the people you hang around as well. Be who you genuinely are because uniqueness will take you far. Being someone else or building a character will not take you farther than yourself. You are the o only person in the world with your unique individual identity. Tap in. Enter spaces that only accept you. Create your own lane. To all my queer and black readers, How do you see yourself? Do you code switch with other races or at your job? Have you realized that you code switch? Do you switch voices or personalities? What are some ways that you wish your job could accept you?
