Queer and Misunderstood

Class is in session and your classmates are all chatting it up! You are observing everything but you can not help but see that you are totally different from the rest. You aren't aware of what it could be but Its something that has to do with being misunderstood. There is a misunderstanding about individuals who label themselves as queer. It's not that people need you to be their teacher, its kind of like they want you to be their tour guide. And lets get this straight now. You don't have to give them a detail tour of your entire life. Don't start showing them how anal works or what you use to clean. Don't go out your way to show them the apps and how we communicate. A simple tour is complete of the tourist attractions. Take them to the gay bar. The gay bar is like the field trip to heaven. Anyone who misunderstood who you are will never have that issue again. At the gay bar, people are exposed to all types of LGBTQI+ individuals. Also, inform them not to ask to many questions drunk, it gets tiring. Just ask them to observe and if they have any questions for you, you are willing to answer. The other place to take an unexperienced queer learner is a drag show. The drag show opens so many doors and questions in their mind. You will expose them to hyper masculinity and hyper feminine energy. You don't have to but you can start to introduce them to the newly defined genders such as: Non-binary, trans-man, Trans-woman, Agender, genderfluid, and etc. Unfortunatly, people are still stuck in the 1800 - 1900's in thinking that there are only two genders: Male and Female. There are people who still believe that these are the only genders that exist. You don't have to be google or Siri but you can def. introduce this to them so they can do their own research. Personally providing non- queer individuals with a definition and visual will help put all the pieces together. This will also show a different side of us that can only be seen in person. Even though so many things around us have been created by LGBTQI+ individuals from Rick Owens to the Turing machine. The Turing machine is the basis for everyones handheld phone, laptop and desktop we use everyday. Alan Turing, who invented the Turing machine, was very misunderstood. Alan Turing was born on June 23, 1912. He was a gay inventor. Outside of his sexuality, he was a brilliant man who changed the world forever. Even though his education changed the way people operate, he still was condemned for his sexuality. On January 23, 1952 Alan Turing was robbed of his personal items. Even though he was robbed, the police still convicted him of "Gross indecency" due to him admitting to having sexual relations with the accomplice to his robbery. Thank god the world has evolved, however there is still the misunderstanding and miseducation of the LGBTQI+ community. Again this not an urge to become a teacher, this is an application for you to guide people out of their naive mindset into a more a more diverse way of thinking. To all my Queer, LGBTQI+ and Black American readers, do you feel misunderstood in 2024? Would you rather be a tour guide or a teacher to those who are not aware of your lifestyle? How would you convey your life to them? Would you take them to a drag race or simply watch POSE with them on FX?
