Queer and Smoking Weed
There are so many things that can go wrong with drugs. I personally feel like anyone is able to get addicted to drugs and it isn't a safe coping mechanism for anyone. Drugs are such a huge deal in my community. One drug that seems to be everyone favorite is marijuana. Marijuana is a huge part of the queer community. Many may use it for different purposes such as: Mental health, recreational, or addiction. People may say weed isn't harmful. Others may say that it slows you down and makes you feel sluggish. Any drug is what you make it out to be. The drug doesn't have feelings or personality until it is consumed. Drugs have to find a host to actually become human. However, not everyone allows the drugs to take over. People in the queer and black community struggle with mental Health daily. There are so many things that have cause the queer community to feel like they aren't accepted by society, so to cope with societies ill acknowledgement, many partake in marijuana to release them from the holds of society. I have no problem with that. It has been proven for years that marijuana and even Psychedelics have a positive impact on those who are experiencing negative mental health. I have encountered others who do it recreationally because they were influenced. Now Im not advocating marijuana usage or drugs. However, because people are so easily influenced, I wouldn't be amazed if people read this and still are encouraged by mass media to participate. Make this choice about you and your needs. Do not allow someone to make these decisions for you. This is a critical decision that will impact your life. Also, drugs bring certain things out of people. Like when Kanye said, "The Molly came out of her body." This is true! Anything that is a foreign substance entering your body, is bound to release a new character. You have to be willing to accept your fate when you are participating in these acts or decisions. Prepare yourself when you are investing your time in something outside of your normal life. Lastly, there are people who don't prepare themselves for the outcome. There are people who are willing to entertain something without doing there research. People like this are called "wave riders". They just go with the flow. People who just go with the flow tend to become addicts. There isn't a true concern for concern when they are consuming drugs. They have to be more aware of it. They don't have the consciousness to think for themselves. They allow the world to control their narrative. Addiction is a serious issue. Addiction has harmed so many people and the people around them. Addiction doesn't just affect one person it affects everyone who is associated with that individual. Remember earlier, I said the drugs don't have a personality until they are consumed. I also stated that when the drugs take over, one may have a new character develop and come out of them. These are all the things that happen to people who are influenced by drug usage. For all my Queer and Black American readers, are you affected by the consumption of drugs? Do you participate in smoking marijuana? If so, are you an addict, recreational user or a medicinal user? How has smoking marijuana impacted your life?
